My Fine Feet Reflexology

Complementary therapies to enhance your health & well-being

From Healthcare to Holistic Healing: My Journey

My path to becoming a therapist was driven by a deep desire to help people find balance before dis-ease sets in. My background in health & social care came to shape my view that preventative healthcare is a better way to achieve wellness.

Relying on my gut instinct, I took the plunge and retrained as a Reflexologist. Experiencing the positive benefits during treatment exchanges confirmed it was the right decision together with my case studies who signed up to a minimum of 6 treatments with no prior experience of this therapy.

I qualified with the renowned Devon School of Reflexology in September 2024 and am often reading reflexology and health articles as passionate to learn so much more.

Since qualifying, I have added hot stones to my reflexology treatments which works on a deeper level providing the ultimate relaxation treatment and trained in Indian Head Massage with the highly regarded Bridget Prusik in Cornwall. I chose this therapy as complements reflexology well, easing tension in the shoulders and neck, stimulating hair follicles and facial acupressure points to improve circulation and lymph flow.

How I Work

A person's health & well-being is unique to an individual based on many factors. However, I firmly believe our mood, energy, stress & sleep patterns are linked to lifestyle choices and aim to encourage a client to address any changes in small manageable steps.

I found my health & well being has improved since implementing my own changes.

As a reflexologist, I am unable to diagnose or treat a medical condition but can suggest a referral to the appropriate health professional.

Understanding Reflexology

How Reflexology Works

The ongoing research emerging is how all the nerves, muscles and organs interact with each other and correspond to specific points on the ears, face, hands and feet.

Applying pressure on these reflexes stimulates a response leading to homeostasis for optimal body function.

With a treatment tailored to an individual's needs, benefits experienced are different for each person but generally can help to:

  • relieve tension
  • reduce stress & anxiety
  • promote relaxation & rest
  • improve mood, energy & sleep patterns.

Rest & Reset

Modern life has become easier in some ways but a faster pace of life has contributed to higher stress levels. Our nervous system becomes wired, unable to shift out of ‘fight or flight mode’.

Underlying niggling symptoms may show up as aches and pains, digestive problems, irritability, anxiety, poor sleep...

Reflexology can act as a ‘reset’ for the mind and body, stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system to slow down & rest, prompting the body’s natural healing response. Bringing calm, mental clarity and increased energy where life’s challenges feel more manageable…

Your Journey & Support

The first session begins with a consultation to establish any health issues taking a holistic approach to a person's physical, mental and emotional health. I do recommend a new client trying at least 2 or 3 treatments to give the body time to adjust and benefit from the accumulative effects. A long term condition may need further treatments and aim to work with the client's preferences.

A maintenance treatment every so often is a good way to support well being.

Reflexology supports female health issues (PMS, PCOS, endometriosis, perimenopause) by rebalancing hormones and is perfectly suitable alongside HRT.

I appreciate living with chronic or auto-immune conditions like fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue can be challenging. With my background as a Care & Support worker and Mental Health First Aider, I aim to create a safe, confidential space to spend time discussing any concerns.

(Note: Hand reflexology is an option if preferred or if feet are contra-indicated).

FAQs

How can I be assured that you are fully qualified & insured?

I am a member of the Association of Reflexologists which have a search facility AoR click here ensuring I have completed my training with an approved provider. We agree to abide by a code of ethics and to complete 20 hours of annual CPD learning which can include courses, research and providing taster sessions at local events.

My insurance including public liability is with AoR’s partner insurer, Alan Boswell.

What can I expect in the first session?

I’ll start by asking details about your medical history and lifestyle including stress, sleep and energy levels whilst sitting in my comfortable recliner chair.  After removing your socks, I will spray a light rosewater on your feet, wipe them over with some hot flannels then perform some relaxing massage techniques on feet and calves.  I will continue applying various pressures using my thumbs/knuckles with some soothing massage every so often.  Occasionally, I may apply a firmer pressure briefly.  During the session, you are welcome to relax or ask any questions if you so wish.  Afterwards, I will provide some after care advice, a self help card to practise on your hands and perhaps suggest some lifestyle changes.  The first session is about 75 minutes with the consultation and subsequent treatments are around an hour.

Anything I should do after my treatment?

Drinking water/herbal teas over the next 24 hours to help flush out any waste products/toxins from your body and minimise any headaches.

Avoiding any stimulants such as caffeine, sugary drinks and alcohol.

Avoiding strenuous exercise, try and relax as much as possible so that your body has time to repair through its natural healing processes.

What if I have to cancel my appointment?

I will contact you 2 days before your appointment to ask for 50% payment of the treatment cost securing your slot. I understand that emergencies occur and life can be unpredictable so please contact me if you need to cancel or rearrange up until the appointment. Please appreciate that I may have to charge for the full cost if less than 24 hours notice but will be as fair as possible.

Is there parking available?

Residential parking permits operate from 10-4pm weekdays only so if your appointment is within these times, I can arrange a complimentary visitors permit. After 4pm and on weekends, it is free to park on Polsloe Road (1 space directly outside) or more spaces on North Avenue, very close to my house.

How do I arrange a Gift voucher?

Gift vouchers are an ideal gift for a Birthday, Christmas or simply as a Thank You.   It’s also an ethical way of supporting a local business.  Vouchers can be sent out to the recipient towards a treatment or bundle.  Just contact me to arrange.

Simple self-care tips between treatments

Aim to drink 1.5-2L fluids preferably water/herbal teas but some tea/coffee is fine.

Practice the hand routine for 5-10 minutes using the self-help card.

Think about your stress levels and how you can reduce and manage them.

Get outside in the fresh air daily for at least 20 minutes to promote well-being.

Make time for exercise and, at the very least, move around regularly and walk.
